Aftercare
Secondskin Healing:
Remove secondskin bandage after 5-6 days. Gently peel up a corner and remove the secondskin in the direction of hair growth. To soften the adhesive, remove in the shower under warm water.
Wash tattoo with antibacterial, fragrance free soap using only your fingertips.
Let tattoo air-dry or pat dry with a clean paper towel, do not use a cloth towel.
apply a think layer of fragrance free lotion as needed.
Traditional Healing:
Wash your tattoo twice a day & apply a very thin layer of Aquaphor or A&D for the first 3 days.
After 3 days continue to wash twice a day and then apply a fragrance free lotion until your tattoo is done peeling and is no longer shiny.
Things to note:
Keep your new tattoo out of the sun for at least 2 weeks, after that always use SPF.
Do not submerge your tattoo in pool, hot tub, bath, ocean, etc. for the first 2 weeks.
Do not scratch or pick at your tattoo, let the skin fall off on its own.
Do not let anyone touch your fresh tattoo.
Do not use Neosporin or ointments other than recommended.
Do not use rubbing alcohol, peroxide or cortisone.
Do not use cloth towels as they can harbor bacteria.
If you notice a red ring forming around the secondskin it is likely you are having a reaction to the adhesive, remove secondskin following the directions above and convert to traditional healing.
It is very important that you to take proper care of your new tattoo while it heals. I am not responsible for any issues resulting from poor aftercare. Your tattoo will not heal properly if you do not follow proper aftercare procedures.
